Farm Fresh Meat
Use this list to find Tennessee livestock farmers and meat processing facilities. Just click on a link for contact information. Your farmer can arrange to have an animal delivered to a meat processor and cut to your specifications. If you prefer, contact processors listed here to purchase directly from them. If you have more questions before your purchase, meatnplace.net has solid, easy to understand information about cuts of meat, aging and quality designations. Your UT county extension agent can help you learn more about choosing and storing meat. Contact your local County Extension Service in the phone book or visit www.utextension.utk.edu/offices/default.asp. You can have a variety of top quality meats straight from a farmer you know!
From beef and lamb to goat and pork; from poultry and rabbit to emu and ostrich, you can find it a Tennessee farm. You may not have to buy in large amounts. Imagine ordering this year’s Thanksgiving turkey straight from the farm! You can learn about that animal, and choose an animal that’s been grain-fed or grass-fed, raised without hormones or antibiotics, or even your preferred breed. You can even have your meats ‘customized’, choosing animals fed the way you wish, having the meat aged to your tastes and cut to the thickness you prefer, all at no additional charge. Then after cutting, your meat is wrapped for freezing and ready for pick up. The savings are enormous, and the quality is superior. If you don’t need a whole beef, which could feed a family of five for a year, find friends or family to share an animal. Check with USDA inspected meat processors about buying a portion of a carcass, or even particular cuts of meat.
