Additional Information: THE STORY We are the Mossbacks Our beloved city was named Mossy Creek by the early settlers due to the vivid green moss growing the area's creek bed. According to history, a few of the business and professional men were called "Mossbacks" and were recognized as such when they traveled to other areas of regions. In the year 1901, the men and women of Mossy Creek supported changing the name Mossy Creek to Jefferson City, to honor President Thomas Jefferson who served as the United States President from 1801-1809 (Jefferson City: A Tale of Two Cities, Hotz) Just like our entrepreneur namesakes from Mossy Creek's founding, Mossback Distillery is proud to be a part of Jefferson City Tennessee's community. Mossback Distillery is comprised of a team of men and women whose different abilities and perspectives work together to capture the spirit of what it means to be a good business. We strive to operate the way a business is meant to, to always have not only the benefit of our customers in mind, but also our community, starting with the mutual respect of each of our own members. We understand that regardless of position or job description, each one of us has meaningful work to do that we all depend upon. From the distilling process to pouring the final product into a glass, every tasting experience is brought to you by not one of us, but by us all. MISSION & VISION Our mission is simple: people first, then drink. Our vision is to produce spirits that will be enjoyed by many generations to come. THE PROCESS Our process starts with these three simple ingredients: corn, malted barley, and rye. We use an heirloom corn that comes from Shelton Farms, located in New Market, Tennessee. The malted barley and rye are sourced from Batey Farms located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. From these three ingredients, we are proud to distill and/or produce the following brands: Pursue Bourbon Long St. American Straight Whiskey Triple V Vodka Atlas White Rum Atlas Spiced Rum 10 Count Gin 115 West Old A.J. Moonshine (grain neutral spirit) Bradford’s Single Malt The process of distillation is deeply rooted in Tennessee’s history, from the present-day distilleries that speckle Tennessee’s three grand divisions, back to the past moonshiners who once distilled by night, hoping to stay hidden from the law within Tennessee’s luscious forests. From the sourcing of our grains to the labeling of each bottle, Mossback’s team fulfills each step of our process with pride and care. Each of our spirits is motivated by a passion, a meaning as to why it exists. Each of our spirits celebrates a part of life that gives it significance and meaning, as each new day brings us the opportunity to pursue our passions. “ For this we raise our glass – and enjoy the journey.”
