The Athens Farmers Market will open for the spring season on Tuesday from 2 - 5 pm middle to end of April. Opeing date is TBA. The Summer market will open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-5 pm EDT as well as Saturdays from 9:30 - 11:0 am beninning June 7, 2022. The fall market will be open on Saturdays from 10-1 pm beginning October 1 thourgh 29, except for October 8, 2022.
Located at the intersection of South Jackson & Hwy 30, the Athens Farmers Market is easily accessible from Interstate 75, via Exits 49 & 52, from State Route 30, from State Route 411, & from State Route 11. Wayfaring signs are located on State Route 30 from Exit 49 on Interstate 75 & from the city limits on State Route 30 coming from State Route 411 from Englewood & Etowah.
All farmers market sellers must register with and be inspected by the Athens Parks and Recreation Department, located at 815 N. Jackson Street, Athens, TN 37303, or by phone, 423-744-2704 EXT 3. The market is free to produce sellers and $2 a day to craft vendors.
The Athens Farmers Market is located in downtown Athens, TN and was built and opened in 2011 as phase one of a downtown development project. Since its conception, permanent bathrooms, water wheel, and permanent corn hole boards have been addedto the park. Additional phases of the developent include a second pavilion, an amphitheater, and excercise walkways. Market Park is adjacent to Veterans Park which includes a one half mile walking trail, a brick walk featuring 4,000 names in honor and in memory of veterans, monuments to all branches of service and a 600 pound granite globe that floats on water.
