Additional Information: The Trolinger family has a rich history of entrepreneurship and community-focused businesses. In 1917, Jimmy "James" Monroe Trolinger, opened several grocery stores in Jackson, including locations on Hayes Street and Hale Street. These stores provided fresh produce, butchered meats, and essential goods. James later expanded his business with Pic-n-Pay, which featured delivery services and larger facilities. His son, Jerry, often assisted by delivering groceries on his bicycle and helping behind the counter. Jimmy Trolinger also operated a slaughterhouse in Bemis, Tennessee, which was tragically destroyed in a fire. A Pabst Blue Ribbon sign from a nearby bar that survived the fire now hangs at the family’s current store. Jerry Trolinger continued the family’s legacy, moving from Arizona to Tennessee to open his first store in Medina. His son, Mike, helped at the Medina location, which reintroduced the family’s famous barbecue to West Tennessee. In 1985, Jerry Trolinger opened his second store in Paris, Tennessee, this location, known as "The Loft," became a community landmark with its distinctive black-and-white checkered floors, new gas pumps, and a massive American flag. As the business grew, the family opened a new store next door in January 1998 to look like a huge barn. The Trolinger family’s barbecue roots trace back to George Trolinger, who barbecued at the Jackson Fairgrounds. Today, Jerry’s son Mike continues to run the family business, with plans for franchising led by his son, Michael Jr., ensuring the Trolinger legacy endures. The Trolinger's Original Recipe Sauce touts, "The more you put on, the hotter it gets," has been shipped and enjoyed worldwide. The, now, hundred-year-old recipe is a family secret that takes Trolinger's BBQ above and beyond the rest. The versatile sauce can be used in so many applications the family loves to hear how others use the amazing hot sauce.
