Explore Burnett Gap Trail #510A and Brush Creek Trail #510B, a loop system along the crest of Brush Mountain. The western end of Meadow Mountain Trail #6 can be accessed from a trailhead located off Long Creek Road. You can reach the middle portion from the trailhead at Burnett Gap. A portion of Paint Mountain Trail #7 is marked with blue blazes and has recently been re-designated to allow horses after previously being open for hiking only (the portion east of Lone Pine Gap is still hiking only) . It climbs Paint Mountain and intersects with Chimney Rocks trail #154 in about 2 miles. You can follow the Chimney Rocks trail (yellow blazes) back to the trailhead at Weavers Bend, a 6-mile loop. Or you can continue on Paint Mountain Trail (blazed yellow) to make larger loops using Forest Roads 54 and 54B and Trail #154A. No developed horse camping facilities are available on National Forest lands in the French Broad River vicinity.
